![]() The first being to do with captioning: the tool i miss most from Word is the ability to caption figures and not worry about renumbering them - a feature which for me would make it a 5 star review. There are a handful of issues, which personally I would call inconveniences. The fact of the matter is simple, the UI is so much more intuitive than MS Word, it's nicer to use, and syncs natively with my iPad and iPhone - therefore making the little extra effort I have to make to conform with peers alot more worth it.Īs the title suggests, it isn't perfect, however. I started using Pages for my undergraduate dissertation against the advice of my tutors as it would have been "too much bother". Pages is my favourite word processor, it's almost perfect.Īs an academic, it's hard to get out of using Microsoft Word for any documents that get written. It is an extremely useful well thought out program. This latest version of Pages is very good, indeed and I have tried IBM's speech app for Mackintosh, I have tried Dragon speak and I have also tried the earlier versions of Apple's text editors and word processes, but Pages has them all beat handsdown. Using pages, which, in my opinion, is vastly superior to Microsoft’s Word, I am able to dictate my stories with much greater ease, not just in the dictation itself, but also having the software allowing me to vocalise back to me, that which I have dictated using voices that I prefer to listen to, thereby, assisting me in editing my own work before I submit it anywhere for publication. Right now, I'm 79 years of age and arthritis causes me ongoing difficulties coupled with pain when I try to type on a keyboard. I have been writing books of a few pages as well as books of hundreds of pages since the late 90s and I have always wished to dictate my work, as it is much quicker for me than typing. Some features may require internet access additional fees and terms may apply. EndNote integration requires a plug-in available from Pages support link.
